For Immediate Release
Santa Fe, N.M. – Today, Gov. Martinez signed Rulemaking Requirements (HB 58, Gentry/L. Trujillo/T. Salazar/Ivey-Soto), a bill Conservation Voters New Mexico (CVNM) supported during the 2017 legislative session and mobilized members to urge Governor Martinez to sign before today’s noon deadline. The legislature unanimously passed Rulemaking Requirements, which provides a uniform process across state government for how rule changes are considered while increasing the opportunities for the public to participate in the rulemaking process. In response, CVNM Legislative Director Ben Shelton released the following statement:
“We’re glad Gov. Martinez recognized the need to improve our state agency rulemaking process to allow for more transparency and public involvement. New Mexicans will benefit from stronger and clearer administrative rulemaking requirements and increased opportunities to get involved, meaning more community input on what impacts our daily lives such as our health, our economy, and more.”
