Santa Fe, N.M. – In response to Senate Majority Leader Michael Sanchez’ loss in the 2016 general election, CVNM Executive Director Demis Foster released the following statement:
“Sen. Michael Sanchez is a true champion for the environment and justice – evident by his 95% lifetime score in CVNM’s Conservation Scorecard – and we thank him for everything he has done while in office. During his years in the State Senate, he fought for each person in his district, first and foremost. He raised their voices in his work and acted on his convictions with integrity and grace. New Mexico will be less for not having him working to protect the air we breathe and the water we drink,” says Demis Foster, CVNM Executive Director. “We join Sen. Sanchez in his excitement for the next generation of environmental champions in the Senate. They’re ready to pick up his mantle and make progress for strong families, a healthy environment and sustainable economy that works for all New Mexicans.”
CVNM is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization connecting the people of New Mexico to their political power to protect our air, land, and water for a healthy Land of Enchantment.
