The Dogs of CVNM

10 staff members, 15 dogs…

Atalaya (Demis Foster) – Atalaya Burrito is a Blue Heeler mix who rescued her family at the Española Humane shelter. She is 5 years old and now lives with her pack in Santa Fe. She loves running through forests and rivers, rolling in the snow, and camping in a tent where she can snuggle with her humans.

Lizzie (Roberto Aponte) – Lizzie is a Long-haired Chihuahua mix (with Papillon?). She clearly likes backyard sunning. Even at 7 years old, she still has the same puppy energy as when she was rescued.

Eethie (Molly Taylor) is 8 years old and was adopted from Animal Humane. He is originally from Gallup, New Mexico. He likes laying in the sun, peanut butter treats, and bird watching.

Lulu (Liz Lee) – Lulu is 6 years old, going on 2. She was adopted from the Santa Fe animal shelter after she and her littermates were rescued from a box abandoned at the side of a road. She knows the names of her favorite people and is happiest when they are all in the same room – or when she’s running out in the wild.

Zelda and Edwin (Ben Shelton) – That’s Zelda with the big ears and Edwin with the tongue out. They’re both mutts from Santa Fe Humane Society. Zelda’s 50% German Shepherd and 50% Doberman/Pittie/Great Dane. She’s passionate about meals and security. Edwin’s just your average NM Pittie mess. Like most Pitties, he has an extremely narrow range of temperatures at which he is comfortable. You can generally find him in the softest, warmest place he has access to in the house. Or surreptitiously destroying baby toys.

Cinnamon, Clove & Paz (Michael Jensen) – Cinnamon is a 9-year old Akita mix puppy rescue. She is very calm and wants to hang with the younger dogs but her joints are giving out. Clove came as a puppy from the Albuquerque Eastside Animal Shelter. She’s a 4-year old Kangal (Anatolian Shepherd) and fast. Paz is also 4 years old. He’s a Black Mouth Cur on permanent loan. He has paws that are more like hands and can climb walls and fences, to the amusement, usually, of the neighbors.

Sanchez & Osito (Antonio Maestas) – Sanchez is a Blue Heeler and is Antonio in dog form; she loves to lay around and get attention. Osito is a rescue and is super playful and loves to love.

Odie (Odysseus) (Greg Peters) – Odie is a 3-year old Terrier/Shepherd who was adopted from Animal Humane ABQ. Odie’s favorite activities include sunbathing, singing the songs of his people during zoom calls, and channeling his inner mountain goat on New Mexico’s public lands.

Clover and Opal (Carly Jones) – Opal is 1.5 years old and is mostly pitbull (American Staffordshire Terrier) mixed with Australian cattle dog. She’s from the Santa Fe animal shelter and her nickname is Wiggles because she doesn’t have a tail and her whole body wiggles when she gets excited. Clover is 6 years old and also an American Staffordshire Terrier mix with Akita, White Swiss Shepherd and Chinese Shar-pei. She picked her owner at Albuquerque Westside Animal Shelter. Clover has an immense love for all things water, especially swimming.

Bailey Kao (Sammi Kao) – Bailey is a 10-year old Red Heeler mix. She was a 19th birthday present from an old friend and was adopted from the Española Valley Animal Humane Center. Bailey loves long walks along the Bosque and to the park. She understands commands in both English and Mandarin.
