- HB 9: Immigrant Safety Act – aims to eliminate safety oversight loopholes exploited by ICE that can lead to human rights violations against undocumented immigrants who are often fleeing the impacts of climate change.
- HB 108: Establishing a State Climate Health Program – would better equip the New Mexico Department of Health to track the health impacts of climate change, especially on our most at-risk communities.
- HB 109: Extreme Weather Resilience Fund – would establish the Extreme Weather Resilience Fund at $12 million to enable local communities and tribal nations to prepare for, and respond to, public health risks related to climate change.
- HJR 18/SJR 1: Legislative Salaries Commission – would bring forward a constitutional amendment allowing New Mexicans to vote on whether or not our legislators should be given salaries.
- SB 4: Clear Horizons & Greenhouse Gas Emissions – codifies the Governor’s 2019 executive order and puts the state on a path to reduce economy-wide fossil fuel emissions.
- SB 5: Department of Game & Fish Modernization – updates and modernizes the Department of Game and Fish, as well as the Game & Fish Commission.
- SB 21: Pollutant Discharge Elimination Systems Act – will provide the NM Environment Department (NMED) authority to administer and enforce the federal Clean Water Act in NM.
- SB 22: Water Quality & Pollution Pollutant – gives NMED the authority to set up a permitting program for surface waters in NM that no longer have federal Clean Water Act protections.
- SB 23: Oil & Gas Royalty Rate Changes – aims to update the royalty rate with a range of 20% to 25% for productive state trust land leases in southeastern New Mexico, potentially generating $50 to $84 million annually.
- SB 37: Strategic Water Reserve – would help keep water in streams for two new specific purposes to support instream flows and recreational, cultural and habitat uses.
- SB 48: Community Benefit Fund – establishes the Community Benefit Fund to invest $340 million in communities that have been disproportionately impacted by climate change and provides renewable energy resources.
- SB 49: Community Benefit Fund Transfers – would transfer the funds outlined in SB 48 to different agencies for use and distribution to support communities across the state in addressing the impacts of climate change.
- SB 83: NM Innovation in Government Act – This legislation provides $10 million in funding to state agencies to support efforts to reduce carbon emissions.
- SB 250: State Enforcement of Immigration Law – aims to prevent New Mexico local entities from enforcing federal immigration laws, allowing state personnel to focus on protecting the environment, public health and education.
- SB 420/HB 307: Community Privacy & Safety Act – aims to reform the unrestricted collection and trade of personal data and sensitive information.
