We have all witnessed the thoughtless and reckless actions of the Trump Administration. Some of the consequences of those acts are already being felt. Others will be down the road. What we know is that we cannot allow them to slide into normalcy. The actions of Trump through executive action are direct assaults upon the bulwarks of our institutions and our democracy. As such, CVNM has been working with our legislators and allies to build a state-level firewall to protect New Mexico communities and progress. At the same time, we have been actively responding to and attempting to track the numerous attacks of the Trump Administration on our issue areas.
While only a small thing, it is all part of an effort to ensure that no part of what is happening is allowed to go unaccounted for and uncontested. Together, by maintaining descent, determination, and dialogue, we can, as a community, speak up against this abuse of power. We stand in solidarity with the immigrant, Indigenous, LGBTQ+, black, Latino, and every other community that has been singled out and targeted. Below is a list of our responses to these actions:
