CVNM CONGRATULATES STEPHANIE GARCIA RICHARD FIRST WOMAN LAND COMMISSIONER IN NEW MEXICO
Albuquerque, N.M. – Tonight, Conservation Voters New Mexico (CVNM) Executive Director Demis Foster congratulates CVNM Action Fund endorsed candidate Stephanie Garcia Richard, who will serve as the next Commissioner of Public Lands.
“Congratulations to Commissioner-elect Stephanie Garcia Richard for becoming the first woman to lead the State Land Office in New Mexico. We are so excited that a proven champion for our public lands and clean energy is headed to the State Land Office despite massive amounts of oil and gas spending in support of her opponent. Voters made a clear choice between moving backward toward the more of the same and moving forward into a new era of the way our state trust lands are managed. New Mexicans want a Land Commissioner that will leverage our state trust lands in a sustainable way for future generations. We look forward to partnering with Commissioner-elect Garcia Richard to hold oil and gas operators accountable for how they operate on these lands and expanding clean energy and public access.”
