The end of the year is a time for celebrations and reflection. Thanks to you, our Conservation Voters community, we can all celebrate a year of tremendous accomplishments.
We hope you’ll celebrate with us and help make 2023 a year of historic climate action.
As momentous as the elections were, our dedicated advocacy staff barely skipped a beat to continue moving toward bold and necessary legislative action on public lands, water, and climate to protect our landscapes, wildlife, and our overburdened communities.
Your support allows CVNM to prepare the ground for legislative action through a series of county-level resolutions calling for statewide reductions of greenhouse gas emissions that are driving the climate crisis. On Tuesday, November 15th, the first of these resolutions passed the Santa Fe Board of County Commissioners with a unanimous vote. We hope to pass similar resolutions in Taos and Dona Ana Counties before the 2023 session.
This is just one piece of the work we’ve been doing with our allies and partners across the state to win passage of historic framework legislation that will get New Mexico to a zero-emissions economy by 2050. In advocating for this clean energy economy, we’re focusing on the needs and resources of the communities most impacted by climate pollution – from communities near coal-burning power plants and oil and gas fields, to the towns and villages devastated by this summer’s destructive wildfires, to irrigators struggling to produce crops as their water supplies decline and the temperature rises.
Working together, we can take the momentum generated in the first four years of Governor Lujan Grisham’s administration, propelled by the amazing election results, and push our legislators to take climate action now.
Will you please pitch in today to seize this moment to push the work forward?
If you’ve just sent a contribution in, thank you! If you haven’t yet and you’re able to support CVNM’s fierce advocacy work through the session and help amplify the voice in the Roundhouse of communities affected by climate pollution, please make a gift today>>.
As a bonus, all gifts made by midnight on December 31st will be matched dollar for dollar, up to a total of $50,000!
Thank you for helping secure a clean and safe future for our loved ones and our future generations.
With gratitude,
Samantha Kao
